“BUILD UP YOUR OWN SUCCESS STORY ON NINTENDO DS TOO!” |
2K Sports, the sports publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: TTWO), today announced that MLB Front Office Manager, the next step in competitive fandom for baseball enthusiasts, will be available for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system and Windows PC this winter. According to Nielsen Media Research, over 3.5 million users signed on to fantasy baseball sites in 2007 and MLB Front Office Manager brings this popular American pastime to console while enhancing the fantasy baseball experience on PC.
MLB Front Office Manager lets gamers do everything a real-life baseball GM can do to develop a team from Spring TrainingTM through a full MLB season, into the playoffs and the World Series. Using Major League teams and players, gamers will create their own fictional baseball universe and build their reputation into elite status. Gamers can replace aging veterans with rookies, scout the Minor Leagues, make blockbuster trades, and even participate in bidding wars for posted players from Japan as they make their way to the Hall of Fame.
"If you have ever dreamed of running your team or thought you could do a much better job than the actual general managers out there then you'll love MLB Front Office Manager," said Greg Thomas, senior vice president of sports development at 2K. "Baseball fanatics can now be in the general manager's chair and see what it's like to really try to build a World Series winning team."
A true baseball general manager also acts as a mentor in MLB Front Office Manager. Legendary Oakland Athletics' GM Billy Beane will offer advice, encouragement and guidance as gamers steer a team through the intense competition that is Major League Baseball. Billy Beane is considered one of the most talented GM's in baseball today and has turned the Athletics into a consistent postseason contender since being named GM in 1997. Now, in MLB Front Office Manager, he passes that knowledge on to gamers.
"From negotiating trades to scouting new talent, MLB Front Office Manager has all the complexity and realism I could hope for in a game that is simulating what it means to be a Major League Baseball manager," said Oakland Athletics' General Manager Billy Beane. "I'm excited to be a part of a game that gives people a real world experience at what it's like to be in my shoes and take on the responsibility of building a Major League Baseball team."
MLB Front Office Manager offers two distinct game modes. Become the GM in Career Mode, and manage a team through a 30 year career that will hopefully lead to the Hall of Fame. As the gamer's knowledge and skill progresses over time, gamers will gain points to improve various areas and help the team win games as a result. With Online Fantasy Mode, create an online head-to-head management experience. With up to 30 Managers in the league, gamers can compete against friends to see who has what it takes to be the best.
MLB Front Office Manager, developed by Blue Castle Games and published by 2K Sports, is not yet rated by the ESRB and will be available for Xbox 360, Windows PC, and PLAYSTATION 3 system this winter. For more information, please visit www.2ksports.com. |
Bungie releases new info on the latest Halo game for the Xbox 360 Bungie announced at the Tokyo Game Show more information about the upcoming Halo game for the Xbox 360. Below you will see the latest video for the upcoming game. First, Halo 3 Recon will be a stand-alone game. So we will pretty much be lining up at our local gaming store at Midnight for another Halo release. Right now there is no info about the game being downloadable. Halo 3 Recon will also NOT require the original Halo 3 game to play. So basically we will be getting a new, souped up Halo 3 (a game that already kicks ass). And speaking of ass... you can bet your ass that Bungie will pump a ton of support into the game. The Halo 3 online community is rich and deep in terms of support. No official date is announced, but this should have the blood pumping for all of us Halo fans out there. |

Majesco Entertainment Company, an innovative provider of video games for the mass market, today announced Hot ‘n’ Cold for Nintendo DS. Developed by Majesco’s Product Development Group in Edison, New Jersey, Hot ‘n’ Cold sends players on a hunt for missing items within large environments that break new ground in the hidden object genre by being fully 3D.
Have you ever lost your keys or the television remote, searched frantically for it, only to eventually discover it in the most unlikely of places? Inspired by the classic children’s game in which players use temperature cues to indicate proximity to an item (i.e. “You’re getting hotter!”), Hot ‘n’ Cold for DS challenges players to uncover hundreds of missing objects like these by using the Hot ‘n’ Cold meter as a guide for discovery. You are the leader of the Hot ‘n’ Cold Club, a group that uses its innate abilities to hone in on lost objects for distressed townsfolk. The stylus lets players lift and throw objects out of the way in 50 multi-room levels in both indoor and outdoor 3D environments. Real world physics make the search for hidden items more dynamic and fun as does the “Book Style” play that lets gamers turn the DS on its side. Three different online multiplayer modes-Hide ‘n Seek, Find the Most and Race-let gamers create their own levels by hiding objects within rooms and then sending those levels to a friend who must discover the hidden objects. These created rooms can also be shared with friends via local wireless multiplayer or the HotandColdHome.com online sharing community. Hot ‘n’ Cold for Nintendo DS is expected to ship in early 2009. Additional information about Majesco’s exciting line of products is available at: www.majescoentertainment.com. |

The Silent Hill series returns with Konami and Double Helix bringing quite possible the best game since Silent Hill 2.
I have been huge fan of the horror genre since the 80's. If you have ever read my articles on this page as well as the now-defunct Next Level Gaming you would know that I have a great love for horror. So it is only natural that I also have a great love for horror videogames. From Resident Evil to the Silent Hill series, I have always had the pleasure of playing these games and giving my personal thoughts. I even had the privileged of meeting various developers over the past at various trade shows and asking talking to them about the various influences that they implemented into their games. So hopefully that will give you somewhat of history to how I feel about horror games and the horror genre in general. Personally I feel that the horror genre is now shit. The genre is only a small glimmer of what it use to be in the 1970's-1980's, the age of splatter and slashers as well as the golden age of horror in the early 1930's and 1940's. Today we have CGI and no storyline. We have star power over character development. Its really hard to sit down and watch a horror flick made today. So I look to other outlets to get my horror fix. One of these outlets is gaming. And the Silent Hill series has always been a personal favorite of mine. I loved the first two Silent Hill games. The second in the series was pretty much the defining moment of greatness. The games the followed seemed to head toward the wrong direction. Thankfully the series is back on track with Silent Hill: Homecoming. |

Hugely popular competitive drinking sport taking campuses and country by storm
If you like beer and playing games on your iPhone, then it just keeps getting better and better! Publisher X, a global publisher of digitally downloadable games and interactive software, and CodeGlue, a Dutch game development studio that specializes in arcade games for mobile, handhelds and consoles, announced today they are teaming up to bring Beer Pong - BPONG 2009 Edition™, a game based on one of the most competitive and fastest-growing leisure sports in the country, to the Apple App Store.
“Following up the success of Beer Bounce (Quarters), it was a no-brainer we should make Beer Pong available as well,” said Doug Kennedy, co-founder of Publisher X. “These types of social beer drinking sports are highly fun and competitive - even without the drinking. This is the next best thing to sinking a few cups with your buddies. After the launch of Beer Bounce, we received a steady flow of emails from our customers asking for Beer Pong, and we have high expectations for this title.”
Beer Pong – BPONG 2009 Edition takes its name from BPONG.COM, the official governing body of the annual World Series of Beer Pong (WSOBP), the largest Beer Pong tournament in the world. Beer Pong – BPONG 2009 Edition will be using the official rules standardized by BPONG.COM and used in every WSOBP match.
For those who have been living under a rock for the past decade or so, Beer Pong (also known as “Beirut” in some localized areas) is a highly competitive drinking game that is more like a sport, typically played by students on college campuses nationwide. Although there are nearly as many rule sets as there are cheap domestic beers, the traditional game of Beer Pong (and one that follows BPONG.COM’s official rules) is played with two two-player teams taking turns throwing beer pong balls (i.e., table tennis balls) across a table in an effort to land the ball in one of ten plastic cups partially filled with beer on the opposite end of the table. When a cup is made, the opposing team removes the cup from the game, and the first team to clear all of its opponent’s cups wins and takes on the next team in line.
Beer Pong - BPONG 2009 Edition will be available for download on the Apple App Store later on in 2008, so clean off your balls and prepare your livers for punishment! |
