ImageDownloadable Game Service Delivers Developers' New Ideas Directly to Consumers.

Nintendo's Wii console has already changed the way people play games. Now its new WiiWare service decisively tears down limitations for how developers create games - and the way people receive them.

Starting today, Wii owners with an Internet connection can download new, creative games from a wide range of developers, from large publishers to indie shops. By reducing the barriers that make console game development prohibitively expensive, WiiWare showcases original ideas in the most democratic environment in industry history, connecting the people who make games more directly with the people who play them.

WiiWare frees developers from the traditional constraints of video game development. WiiWare lets developers experiment with big ideas and small budgets to the benefit of players everywhere. Newer, smaller teams now have an outlet for their creative ideas. The constantly growing WiiWare library will have a regular flow of unique video gaming experiences consumers might not otherwise have access to.

GCN Editor Dave Johnson takes on Rockstar's latest epic. Welcome to Liberty City...

Grand Theft Auto IV, returns to its roots of Liberty City, but this time it’s making the leap to the next generation of consoles. Vice City had Tommy Vercetti, San Andreas introduced us to Carl Johnson. For this blockbuster title, we are introduced to Niko Bellic, a Serbian veteran of the Bosnian War coming to America in search of the “American Dream.” Niko’s cousin, Roman, has been sending him emails promising him a life filled with luxury, fast cars, and beautiful women.

Niko soon finds out that his dreams of partying like a “Rockstar” will have to wait. Roman turns out to be a smalltime business man that owns a taxi service and lives in a roach invested apartment.  Buried in debt, Roman hopes that with the arrival of Niko, they can together find fortune in Liberty City.

If you’re familiar with past titles of the GTA series, you know that developer, Rockstar North, does a fantastic job at telling the main characters story throughout the game. The depth of the story is what keeps you wanting to play just a little bit longer, complete just one more mission, while the whole time you’re on the edge of your seat wondering what’s going to happen next.
